RLH is of solid, concrete construction for soundest of slumbers. Beds and furniture were crafted by local tradespeople and local workers are employed in the construction of the hotel and surrounds.

About Bugs:
Sri Lanka is a tropical island and with that comes mosquitos. Not so much in coastal areas like where we are, but you should plan for them: wear light coloured clothing, a good bug spray & cover up especially in the early morning and evening. Air-conditioning & screened rooms will help you rest peacefully, so it’s best to keep your doors and windows closed to your bedroom. Disease carrying mosquitos are rare but cover-up ankles & exposed areas in the evenings when outdoors, and stay on trails when in heavy tropical vegetation, as there may be snakes.
You are more likely to suffer from heat and sun than anything else, so always carry a good sunblock & hat. It’s generally hot, so drink lots of bottled water to stay hydrated. And gets lots of great sleep.
