CELEBRATE

Celebrate

Whatever path brought you here, remember this moment with a toast, a cheer or a special meal or sunset. And a great photo and an everlasting memory.

Travel Tip

Drinking: You will find most cultural events in Sri Lanka revolve around family, where the welfare and education of children is put before almost everything. Although alcohol is generally cheap & easy to get, it is not freely consumed during most traditional family occasions such as dinners out and other celebrations. If locals drink, it’s usually the men together where toddy, arrack (palm trees) & Scotch are popular drinks. As tourists its recommended to drink responsibly when in social gatherings where there are young local families present. Tea, ginger beer or coconut juice are popular options. Avoid adding ice from an unknown source. You may not see cold beer, wine and spirits openly advertised, but it is generally available if you ask. Tourist hotels are another matter.
